Malaysia Fuel Price
Malaysia fuel price for vehicle go down again. From RM2.45 to RM2.30 per liter. Good news to lot of people but if you are someone who read or follow up on how the government manage the country policy, this changes is not a good news or interesting at all.
Why I said so ? Just look at the chart below. Before Feb this year, we were buying the fuel at RM 1.92/liter. Out of sudden, the government adjusted the market price to RM 2.70/liter. The sudden surge of this price resulting a big price increase in everything thru out the market. Foods, drinks, transportation, services, bills etc etc etc of course our monthly salary remain at the same level.

Common people like me screamed and moaned for mercy since June adjustment. The sincere guys who ran the country said they understood our suffer and decided to do fuel price review from month to month (before this, Malaysia fuel price was heavy subsidised by government because we have natural resource of Petro in the offshore, the guys in big offie only revised the fuel price once a while when the crude oil price go up dramatically)
Below are the latest price structure being implement in Malaysia since middle of this year. So far the trend is fuel price getting cheaper each month (dont happy too early, the price will go up eventually when the world demand start to climb up again)
RM 1.92/liter from Feb 2006RM 2.70/liter from June 2008
RM 2.55/liter from Aug 2008
RM 2.45/liter from Sep 2008
RM 2.30/liter from Oct 2008
The reason for most of us not get excited over latest price reduction was simple. For last few months, business man around us already pushed up the price level of the services or commodities. For example, a liter of fresh milk in the hypermarket go up from 3.40 to 4.50 and do you think the dairy factory will reduce to price back to previous level ?
I never see such move happen in the past and I dont expect they will do it now. Everything that cost more than what we used to pay for before June 2008 will remain… who to blame ? tell me lar… who to blame ?
