emoticon Finally have some good news coming from southern part of the globe….

SYDNEY — Australia’s central bank unexpectedly raised interest rates by a quarter point Tuesday, becoming the first major economy to increase the cost of borrowing amid signs its recovery from the global slump is gaining momentum.

The Reserve Bank of Australia raised its cash rate to 3.25 percent from a 49-year low of 3 percent. Between September 2008 and April this year, the rate was slashed a total of four and a quarter percentage points as the financial crisis morphed into a global recession.

The rate hike, which comes after recent data showed the economy was improving, sent the Australian dollar soaring to a 14-month high against the U.S. dollar.

Balinese Dance Controversy

Another cute arguement happened between Malaysia and Indonesia last week and the controversial still an on going subject because the second most powerful man in Malaysia made statement to clarify with public on the source of the problem. Want to know what he said ? Click here than !

I made some effort to search the video site for the clip which cause Discovery Channel in such a hot seat. The closer I could get is the one below :

To those who familiar with Malaysia or Indonesia culture… ai yo…. Bali Dance lar… Malay tradisional dance lar… even Siamese dance … all almost look alike one…. just shake here wave there emoticon Why so upset right ?

However I found another interesting article from a local publisher, MalayMail which review more detail on this issue. Here I pasted a part of the the report from the newspaper which really amuse me :

…. the controversial commercial in question was actually a promotional clip put together by Discovery Channel to highlight a series of documentaries, produced by KRU Studios, called Enigmatic Malaysia aimed at highlighting Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage……

From above few lines, I reliased that the documentary film was produced by a local film which run by 3 famous singer cum artist cum producer (they have production house and shot movies etc) If these 100% Malaysian citizen unable to detect the error of culture elements in the documentary… how we dare to expect those foreigners on board of Discovery Channel can differentiate between Malay dance and Balinese dance ? emoticon

Yasmin Ahmad - Going to miss her

Yasmin Ahmad - the icon of Malaysia film industry passed away on Saturday. News about her fall sick and get hospitalised reported on Friday… thought she will survive the attacked. Her dead is a big lost to this country film industry.

She was one of the few directors in the country who dare to tell the story of Malaysian. Sadly, not many of us appreciate her works. I am one of the few who follow her products (I mean I pocket out my money to go cinema to watch her products…. usually i only do so for Hollywood movies)

I hope one day… her movie like Sepet, Gubra, Mukhsin and Muallaf (which not allow to show in Malaysia due to controversial subject) and her last product Talentime (oop… i have not watch this title yet… what a shame) will turn into classic collection for the people in the country.

Finally something good for the people

Global Economy Slowdown - you can find these 3 scary words in newspaper, tv news, magazines daily. Other scary words that link closely with these 3 words will be RETRENCHMENT, REDUCE WORKING DAYFACTORY CLOSED DOWNREVISED SALARYBANKCRUPT…. and lot of more words that cause nightmare  emoticon

Those politicians who put in charget to run the country indeed very much CONCERN of this situation. So many talked and suggestion we hear from them. In fact they did executed some measurement but again, those plans that implemented by them don’t see going to do much good to the peoples.

Was excited and glad when I read on yesterday newspaper about interest rate cut (reduce BLR) measure took by commecial banks, finally an action which really can help in reduce my finacial burden executed. emoticon

Banks slash interest rates

Petaling Jaya : Several banks have slashed interest rates imposed on loans and more are expected to join in the fray. Four banks - RHB Banking Group, Public Bank Group, United Overseas Bank Bhd (UOB) and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) - have cut their respective base lending rates (BLR) from 5.95% to 5.55%.RHB Bank and Public Bank will also be reducing each of its Islamic bank’s base financing rate (BFR) by the same quantum. This follows the move by Bank Negara Malaysia to bring down the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) from 2.5% to 2% on Tuesday.

Now I can looking forward for quicker reducement on the outstading loan amount of my house loan. A 1% lower in interest. Not bad.

Had been pay and pay and pay for years for the loan but when the annual statement land in my mail box, only a few hundreds lesser in the principal amount compare to previous year. Major part of my monthly installment went to the interest portion. emoticon Have the feeling that the loan will never end…. hehehehehehe….

Want to know what other smart action implementated by governemnt ? Let me show you some of it at below :

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) — Toll collection at the Salak Jaya Toll Plaza in the Sungai Besi Highway (Besraya), Kuala Lumpur has been abolished starting 12.30pm today, Works Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed said.
Mohd Zin said though the decision was only supposed to take effect starting March 1, Besraya (M) Sdn Bhd, the concessionaire for the highway had agreed to stop toll collection four days earlier.

Toll on part of NPE abolished

Petaling Jaya: Toll collection at the Kuala Lumpur-bound toll plaza at PJS2 on the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) will be abolished as of 12:01am Saturday. The Cabinet decided to do away with the RM1.60 toll last week, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed on Friday. He said removing the toll was also meant to soften the effects of economic uncertainties for the residents of PJS 1 and 2, who had to pay RM1.60 toll every time they drove towards Kuala Lumpur since April 2004.

Maybe certain peoples will get excited with above 2 good news but it do not have effect on me because both toll not fall under my routine travel line emoticon

Just at the time when I started to believe the government maybe really want to help the peoples in their life during this difficult time, there come below news on today newspaper

Price up again !!! Well, dont really need to worry my fellow Malaysian citizen…. I dont think the increment will be take effect now. Thru my experience, this is part of those guys in office played their cards to gather support from us….. I am expecting another announcement will be report on newspaper in few days time with our every caring leader flash their sweet and loving smile claiming they will put the price up proposal on hold for not because they want to help the people from paying high price in using the hightway.

From this action, they expecting us to cheer them for their care and understanding…. dont you agree ? emoticon
